The historic John de la Howe School held a Staff Appreciation Program on Thursday, May 31, to recognize the contributions of employees.
Georgia Blakely, Program and Treatment Services Coordinator, and Debbie Daniels, Human Resources Specialist, were named the 2018 Employees of the Year. Nominations for the award were submitted by staff.
Blakely joined the JDLH staff in 1990 as a youth counselor. She will retire in July with 28 years of service to the State of South Carolina.
One of the nominations for Blakely’s award stated: “She is very passionate about her job. She is caring, and she makes sure that she keeps the same worth ethic … She invests values in students and staff alike at John de la Howe School. She believes in accountability for everyone involved.”
Another nomination for Blakely pointed out: “Her work speaks for her.”
Daniels came to the school in 1993 as an administrative specialist.
“Ms. Daniels is the ‘face’ of John de la Howe to everyone who comes to the Administration Building and to all who call into the agency.” one nomination application stated.
Another staff member wrote: “She always has a smile on her face no matter what. She is so helpful! She is one of the best Human Resources persons I have ever had!”
De la Howe appreciates the outstanding work and dedication shown by Blakely and Daniels to the students, staff, alumni and general public who are part of our daily lives!
