Students and their families benefit from the therapeutic services offered at the John C. Shiflet Jr. Family Life Center. Counselors work with them to identify their specific needs, whether it is anger management, substance abuse prevention, improving relationships or others. After identifying the needs of each student and his or her family, the counseling staff plans and offers therapy designed to enhance and promote family communication and growth.
Existing strengths are identified so the students and families can work toward building on these. The overall goal is to offer individualized treatment that helps the student grow socially, mentally, physically and emotionally. Counselors also strive to provide the students and families with the necessary tools to improve the quality of their family life. The Center features overnight accommodations for families who need to be on campus related to their child’s care.
